Her
Her dark, auburn hair, streaked with the dye
That declared life and carved victory
From the decayed hulk of a broken romance
Carried forward, screaming from the void
She touches the small of my back as she passes
And I’m aflame with the unbound joy
Of a young lover in bliss
A teen boy holding a rose and his breath
She kisses with passion that brings me back
To the varsity baseball field
Where stolen moments became boundless
Eons in the depths of my heart’s chambers
And when she gave herself to me completely
I was as nervous as the first time
Fumbling blindly in the dark like a
Scared kitten searching for its mother’s warmth
By love I am made foolish
I am blinded
But I smile
Because I have seen a beauty that will never be surpassed
And I need not see again
